History

The house was built in 1796 by Count G. Orloff of Russia who started the first Revolution of Independence, period known in the Greek history as the “Orlofika” times.

Hydra’s splendor in the 18th century gained the island the title of “Little England”, thanks to the extent of its merchant fleet and the great skills of its captains. The wealth and power accumulated on Hydra were the starting point of the Revolution that lead  to the foundation of the modern Greek state in 1830.

Since its restoration in 1986, the Orloff hotel has welcomed many guests and hosted many events, such as christenings and weddings, birthdays, book launches, painting exhibitions, shootings for the fashion industry, making the old house more alive than ever.
